Italian wine cookies Ciambelline al vino Marisa Cucina Italiana


These cookies are an enjoyable cookie for Vin Santo or a sweet port wine, although any wine is good, dipping them they absorb the wine and bitting into these cookies you get the sweetness of them .
These can also be made with anise seeds they give them a more pungent taste.
Make them with white or red wine only the color changes.White they will be blonder then the red makes them browner after baking.


Ciambelline di Vino
Italian Wine Cookies


Recipe


½ cup of white wine
½ cup sugar
⅓ cup oil ( I used corn oil)
¼ tsp salt
½ tsp baking powder
A dash of baking soda
2 ¼ cups flour
Sugar for coating about 1 cup
Optional: ½ tsp anise seeds

Preheat oven to 350 degrees


In a medium size bowl add wine, oil, sugar, salt, baking powder,
A dash of baking soda, if you are using the anise seeds.


Slowly add your flour a little at a time this will incorporate into your wet mix, has it comes together , do not over mix when the mix comes together it done.


Your dough will be soft, cut off a piece to form your log about ½ inch no bigger about
6  inch and join them by closing the ends press a little and it will close overlap them.


Dip them into the sugar you have placed in a bowl coating just one side, place them side down without the sugar on your baking sheet.


Bake them from 25 to 30 minutes till they turn just golden around the edges .
