This was in onore of Ottaviano Augusto, first emperor of Italy
The Holliday was to celebrate the Good summers crops.
Then became a church Holiday celebrating Holliday the Mother Mary 's resumtion.
Big feast's in all of Italy and many culinary dishes from
roasted pigions,roasted chickens,lasagna, stuffed peppers , finish off with cold watermelon ...
Of course each region of Italy celebrates it in many ways
Mostly people go to the beach for the day,but many it the cool mountains for picnics.
