Gnocchi al forno Baked gnocchi






Gnocchi al forno 

for two people 


1 pack of gnocchi 250 gm.  (or go to my Gnocchi recipie under Pasta) 
1 cup of parmigiano
1 cup of  mozzarella cut up into small squares

You will need a glass Pyrex square 8x8 
A red or white sauce 


Make your tomato sauce plane,

1/2 cup of onion
1 can of whole tomatoes
3 tbs. olive oil
salt to taste
pepper to taste


Saute your onion in  the olive oil , do not burn it when its just transparent on low heat add your tomatoes chopped up a little before you add it to the pan saute about an half hour on low.

Boil your gnocchi when your sauce is done, drain and place in a large bowl,( you will be stirring in the mozzarella and parmigiano, )

Take your sauce poor over the boiled gnocchi, add your mozzarella and parmigiano, place this into individual oven bowls, or a Pyrex pan adding a little more parmigiano and pieces of mozzarella place this into an oven 300 degrees for about 1/2 hour let it rest before you serve it.

FYI : you can use a green spinach gnocchi, pumpkin with white sauce below. The recipe  for the gnocchi are under "Pasta" easy to make.

--OR--

You can make this also in a white sauce, bisciamella, in place of your red sugo (sauce)

1/2 liter of whole milk
50 gr. of butter
50 gr. of flour 
a pinch of salt
a pinch of nutmeg

Place in pan your butter and flour , mix well add slowly your milk with a whisk, at this time place the pan over the heat stir add in salt and nutmeg bring to a boil, turn to simmer whisk well till thicken. 

Poor this over the cooked gnocchi and add the mozzarella. I like to add a little bread crumbs and a few dab of butter to make the crust. 
Bake in oven at 300 degrees for about 1/2 hour let it rest before you serve it.
